Akmal Khan Bari, vice president of the Punjab chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was discharged in a case, which was registered against him on November 26.
Bari was arrested at Lahore’s Niazi Chowk (Batti Chowk) when he was going to Islamabad on November 26 to take part in PTI’s protest at D-Chowk.
The judicial magistrate hearing the case discharged him from the case and issued the orders for his release.
After his arrest, Bari was taken to Rang Mahal Police Station.
Hundreds of PTI supporters were arrested during three days of PTI's protest from November 24 to 26. Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said on Wednesday that 954 protesters were arrested during three days of PTI's protest and 610 of them were arrested on Tuesday alone.
Speaking at a press conference alongside the Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Rizvi said that more than 200 vehicles were seized in addition to 39 weapons including Kalashnikovs and 12-bore guns from the protesters.
