The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) on Friday approved Rs 4 billion for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to deal with necessary and critical expenses, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
A decision to this effect was taken by the ECC meeting, headed by Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, to address pressing financial matters pertaining to PIA.
According to sources, the ECC okayed the allocation of Rs Rs 8 billion to PIA, ensuring the national carrier's ability to respond to emergency situations.
The funds will be directed towards enabling PIA to manage emergency situations effectively, safeguarding both the airline's operations and passenger interests.
Additionally, the ECC issued instructions for the prompt implementation of a bilateral agreement between PIA and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This agreement is expected to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two entities.
