The federal government has started considering the import of Diammonium phosphate (DAP), most widely used phosphorus fertilizer, after its shortage fears emerged in the country amid fertilizer’s continuous price hike, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Monday.
It is pertinent to note that Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) contains 18 percent nitrogen and 46 percent Phosphorus, is the most widely used source of Phosphorus for plants.
The Federal Ministry of Industries and Production has started considering to import the fertilizer and sources maintained that the private sector will import DAP fertilizer.
DAP fertilizer per sack reached Rs4000 in the country and that is a worrisome situation, however, there is an ample stock and supplies of urea fertilizer in the country, sources maintained.
