UAF former VC Rana Iqrar booked on charges of corruption

An FIR was registered against former VC Rana Iqrar Ahmad Khan and former registrar Chaudhry Muhammad Hussain of the Agriculture University of Faisalabad (UAF) on charges of corruption of millions of rupees, nepotism and abuse of power. 

According to the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Punjab, the case has been registered with the ACE Faisalabad. Rana Iqrar illegally hired gazetted and non-gazetted staff abusing his powers. He worked continuously as VC for nine years and committed corruption. 

Rana Iqrar hired 608 individuals illegally, 138 among them were gazetted officers and 470 were non-gazetted officers. He allegedly violated all laws during the recruitment process, government of Punjab’s regulations and the university act. He caused a loss of Rs420 million to the national exchequer.

While holding the portfolio of the VC, he worked on a dual post as project director in a US Aid Project and drew a double salary. He received a salary of Rs4.25 million as project director of an NGO and awarded himself Rs9 million as honorarium without the approval of the chancellor. Other financial misconduct of the suspects is under investigation.
