The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday threw out the application filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly (SA) Haleem Adil Sheikh against Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah for allegedly concealing his ‘dual nationality’, saying it was inadmissible for hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Earlier, a two-member of the SHC, led by the chief justice (CJ), had reserved the verdict in the case.
The PTI leader, in his petition, had stated that despite the fact that the Supreme Court (SC) had declared the present Sindh CM ineligible to contest elections in 2013 for concealing his dual nationality; still he contested the by-election held afterward and won it.
“Hence, Syed Murad Ali Shah is no more Sadiq and Ameen. Therefore, he permanently be declared ineligible to hold any public office under articles 62 and 63 of the constitution,” the petition read.
The Sindh High Court had reserved its judgment on the admissibility of the petition seeking disqualification of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on September 17 last.
SHC Chief Justice Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh and Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed heard the petition.
