Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday expressed concern over the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Member of National Assembly (MNA) Moonis Elahi and Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti were also present at the meeting.
Both the leaders concurred that compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) was a must if the spread of the coronavirus was to be prevented.
They both agreed that since the pandemic was become more and more threatening with each passing day, there was a need to take tough measures.
Similarly, they both agreed that the process of vaccinating people against the disease should also be accelerated.
Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi stressed the need for monitoring the coronavirus situation daily so that the decisions could be taken as per the latest situation.
CM Buzdar said that the Punjab government had accelerated the pace of vaccination of people against the virus. “After having done with the vaccination of people aged between 50 and 60, we have now begun the registration of people of age 40 and above for the purpose,” he said, and added, “The Punjab government is taking steps after taking into account the needs of each and every hospital.”
