The current heatwave in Pakistan has melted at least 35 glaciers that are expected to cause dangerous flooding in the country.
According to the 24New HD TV channel, the Ministry of Climate Change has issued an advisory on the effects of the new heatwave continued in Pakistan.
The channel reported on Friday that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan areas are at risk of flood due to the eruption of glacial lakes.
The Ministry of Climate change has said lakes in Pakistan's northern mountainous regions have begun to melt faster due to extreme temperatures.
The ministry disclosed that due to the strong heatwave situation, around 3,044 lakes have appeared in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The Ministry of Climate Change has also issued alerts to the relevant department and provinces to formulate their strategies timely.
