A Gujranwala court on Saturday acquitted Sohail Asghar Awan in the anti-corruption case.

Sohail Asghar Awan was acquitted of the case due to a lack of witnesses and evidence against him.

The Anti-Corruption Department has registered a case against former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi and Sohail Asghar Awan.

On Saturday's hearing, the Anti-Corruption Department demanded a six-day physical remand of the arrested accused Sohail Asghar Awan from the Magistrate.

After hearing the arguments of the parties, the magistrate rejected the remand request of the anti-corruption authorities and acquitted Sohail Asghar from the case due to insufficient evidence.
