Second National Youth Chess C’ship concludes

The 2nd National Youth Chess Championship concluded with a flourish at The City School Ravi Campus in Lahore, showcasing the exceptional skills of young chess players from across the country.

Under the watchful eyes of Senior National Champions Aamir Karim and Mehek Gul, boys and girls competed fiercely for the coveted titles of Youth National Champions.

With over 150 players participating from various regions, the event was a grand celebration of chess talent in Pakistan. The young prodigies impressed the audience with their strategic prowess and determination, signalling a promising future for chess in the country.

Hanif Qureshi, President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan, expressed gratitude to the participants, parents, and teachers for their dedication and support. He also extended appreciation to the City School Pakistan administration for providing excellent facilities and ensuring the success of the event.

The tournament was meticulously organized by Aamir Kareem, Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, Khalilur Rehman Butt, and Muhammad Waqar, with FIDE rated tournaments planned in provinces and departments nationwide, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Islamabad.

In a testament to gender equality in chess, girls showcased their talent across different age categories. Notable winners included Amal Abid, Maisha Farqan Chaudhry, Ayat Asmi, Syeda Minahal, and Zoya Ahmed Raj, with Romaisa Batool clinching the U-18 title.

The boys also displayed exceptional skill, with Isa Hussain Lal, Ayad Moeed, Rehan Nasir, Sohan Ahsan, and Ujtba Aamir emerging victorious in their respective categories. Ajlal Amir secured the U-18 title, adding to the excitement of the competition.

Parents, principals, and teachers expressed gratitude to the organizers, Punjab Chess Association, and Chess Federation of Pakistan for their efforts in arranging the successful event. They commended the meticulous planning and arrangements made by all involved parties, including the Lahore District Chess Association.
