Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan held an international telethon donation campaign on Monday for flood victims in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the live transmission of the Telethon, Imran Khan announced that they have succeeded to collect around Rs4.14 billion in donations till midnight at 12 am. The telethon was continued till filing this report.
Interestingly, Imran Khan succeeded to collect more than Rs500 million in donations in just the first half hour of the program.
Mostly the overseas Pakistanis participated in the Telethon and also made direct telephonic contact with Imran Khan to offer their donations for the flood-hit victims.
An America-based Pakistani Javed Azhar donated Rs220 million and Syed Amjad donated Rs10million while a 10 years old child from Rawalpindi also called Imran and donated his pocket money of Rs10,000 for the flood affectees.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan assured the overseas Pakistani donors that he will provide every detail of the utilization of their funds when they will visit Pakistan.
In the Telethon, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, former test cricketers Inzamam Ul Haq, singer Ibrar ul Haq and some other celebrities also joined Imran Khan's Telethon.
Earlier, the PTI supremo in a video posted on the Facebook page appealed to Pakistanis to come and participate in the fundraising telethon for flood victims.
Imran Khan said that Pakistan has been facing the worst ever flooding in its history and the time has come to share the burden of fellow countrymen.
