Pakistan on Monday expressed its grave concern over the claim made by Afghanistan’s acting defence minister that Pakistan had allowed the USA to use its airspace for carrying out a drone attack to assassinate Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Foreign Office (FO) Spokesman Asim Iftikhar said that levelling such allegations without prior investigation was extremely unfortunate. “The same minister had, earlier, said that there was no evidence which could prove that Pakistan’s airspace was used for the purpose,” he said, and added, “Pakistan reiterates its belief in the sovereignty of all nations as well as regional stability.”
The FO spokesman went on to add that the country was also against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. “On the contrary, we urge the Afghan government to keep its promises it had made to the international community and not to allow its soil to be used for terrorism against any other country,” he concluded.
