An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Tuesday handed over human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari-Hazir to police on three-day physical remand in connection with a sedition case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
ATC Judge Abul Hasnaat Zulqarnain pronounced his decision reserved earlier.
On Monday, Islamabad police had rearrested Imaan Mazari from outside the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi soon after her release on bail.
Earlier, the ATC) had granted bail to Imaan Mazari along with politician Ali Wazir in the sedition case. The court asked both of them to submit surety bonds worth Rs30,000 each.
ATC judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain conducted the hearing on the post-arrest bail plea of Imaan Mazari. The script of Imaan Mazari’s speech was read out during the hearing.
The prosecutor presented his arguments against bail to Imaan Mazari. “The USB report is yet to come. Forensic of the event has to be done yet,” he stated.
The court, however, granted bail to Imaan Mazari.
Later, as she came out of the Adiala Jail in the afternoon, the Islamabad policemen were waiting for her and arrested her again.
Lawyer Imaan Mazari-Hazir was arrested under anti-terror laws last week after appearing at a protest by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). Some 3,000 people attended that rally in the capital Islamabad, where both Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir gave speeches condemning the harassment of Pashtuns.
