LESCO Engineers Association (LEA) has announced a protest in front of the headquarters on August 30 against the government’s plan to end free electricity for Wapda employees, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

The office bearers of Lahore Electric Supply Company Engineer Association in a statement issued on Tuesday claimed that free electricity supply to the officers and employees is part of the employees' contract.

LEA General Secretary Fiaz Ahmed claimed free supply does not affect the tariff of ordinary consumers.

He lamented that a hype of free electricity units in the power sector has been created on social media.

With protests on the streets and calls for non-payment of electricity bills, the last straw for Pakistani citizens was the revelation of free electricity granted to WAPDA officials.
