The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has approached the Supreme Court, asking it to direct concerned authorities to hold elections in the 90-day period after the assembly’s dissolution, during which elections are to be held as per the Constitution, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
In a petition filed by PTI Secretary General Umar Ayoub Khan through Advocate Ali Zafar, the PTI has requested the apex court to direct the President of Pakistan to announce the date of elections within 90 days.
The petitioner also requested the apex court to issue instructions to the governors of the four provinces for holding elections within the stipulated time frame.
It is requested to the apex court that it should annul the decision of the Council of Common Interests regarding the election date.
