Pakistani boxer Mohammad Waseem's World Boxing Federation (WBF) bantamweight title fight is in the doldrums as his visa application for Denmark has been rejected, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to details shared by sources, the denial, issued by the Danish Embassy after a 40-day wait, has put Waseem's upcoming World Title Fight, scheduled for October 4 in Malta, at risk.
The star boxer, a three-time WBC flyweight world silver champion, Waseem is supposed to arrive in Denmark well in advance to begin his training session for the critical title fight.
The rejection of his visa has disrupted these plans, leaving him in a difficult position just weeks before the fight.
Expressing his concerns, Waseem appealed to the government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and the Chief of Army Staff, urging them to intervene and assist in securing the visa.
He emphasized the importance of the World Title Fight, stating that it is a crucial opportunity in his boxing career that he cannot afford to miss.
