Cabinet bulldozes Mazari’s objections, okays NAB-FBI MoU

Federal cabinet met on Tuesday and approved signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NAB and FBI, the US top agency, rejecting the Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari opposition.

It was reported, Shireen Mazari opposed the move and said MoU move would open a political Pandora box but federal cabinet bulldozed the dissent voice and approved the MoU signing between anti-graft watchdog NAB and FBI

The MoU will pave the way for the FBI in Pakistan, the TV channel reported. The Human Rights Minister did not participate in today's federal cabinet meeting.

The federal cabinet also discussed gas load shedding in detail while the Prime Minister directed cabinet members to look into the matter of gas supply to domestic consumers and industries as top priority.

Cabinet approves appointments of Director General of Hydrocarbon Development Institute HCDI and Chairman of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan and Federal Drug Inspector.

The cabinet approved extension in the tenure of FBR chairman for a period of three months, the TV channel reported.

The cabinet also approved the December 24 decisions taken by an earlier meeting and approved funds for an Isolation center set up for the treatment of coronavirus patients. 

It has been reported that federal cabinet agreed to lodge FIR against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah for controversial statements against Pakistan Armed Forces.

Secretary Home will lodge FIR against Mufti Kifayatullah the TV channel reported. The cabinet also discussed opposition leaders’ statements against state institutions.
