The questionnaire sent by the NAB to JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was returned to Peshawar after the local post office could not be delivered the letter to him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In this connection, Jahangir Khan – the in-charge of Shorkot Post Office in Dera Ismael Khan – told 24NewsHD TV channel that the staff visited Fazl’s residence repeatedly but he wasn’t available there. Therefore, the document sent as a registry [registered letter] was sent back to Peshawar, he added.

The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has now decided to resend its questionnaire to the JUI-F chief, the TV channel reported, quoting its sources.

Earlier this month, NAB had sent a detailed questionnaire containing 26 queries was sent to Fazl, asking him to submit a reply along with evidence by December 24, in connection with the ongoing assets beyond means inquiry.

On the other hand, Fazl at that time had said that he did not receive any notice and the “buddies” were using the issue for media trial.

They would see how to respond when any notice or questionnaire was received, he remarked, adding that he did not recognise or accept the NAB as an accountability organisation.

With the JUI-F repeatedly terming the move as media trial, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday directed his party and government spokespersons to tell people who Fazl has amassed his assets.

As far as the questionnaire is concerned, the NAB has asked Fazl, among many other things, to share the details of the income sources of Mufti Mehmood, his late father who died 40 years ago. Moreover, he is also supposed to provide the details of the properties inherited or bought by his father as well as the inheritance passed on to him and his family through his parents.

Moreover, it is not just Fazl in his personal or family capacity, as the NAB also wants the details of JUI-F’s bank accounts inside or outside the country, funding source and assets.
