Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani has announced carving out a new party from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad after chairing a meeting of former JUI-F members who had been expelled from the party on account of differing with the policies of party Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, he named the new party as Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (JUI-P).
Sherani categorically stated that he and his colleagues had never remained the part of JUI-F.
He said he and others who had been shown the door by Maulana Fazl would follow the Quranic teachings and the practices of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while never siding with the wrongdoers.
PTI invites four former JUI-F leaders to join party
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has invited four erstwhile Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leaders to join the party, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The ruling party has offered Senate seats to Hafiz Hussain Ahmed and Maulana Shujaul Mulk, while Sherani has been offered the chairmanship of Council of Islamic Ideology.
Meanwhile, former senator and former deputy secretary general JUI-F Maulana Rahat Hussain has said that JUI-F was his party, and he and his other party men would always remain Maulana Fazl under whose leadership they are waging struggle for the supremacy of the constitution and rule of law.
Maulana Rahat said he had been associated with the party for the last 33 years, and would remain steadfast in his support for the party, come what may.
In an apparent reference to the dissidents of JUI-F, he accused them of doing negative politics. “We are neither with them nor we like them,” he said categorically.
Maulana Rahat made it clear that he would not be attending any of the meetings convened by these people. “Our leader is Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and we will support him till our last breath,” he concluded.
