Commerce and Industry Minister Gohar Ejaz visited Karachi Garments City Thursday and chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the industrial zone, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In the meeting, the authorities decided to establish modern infrastructure on 300 acres of land allocated for the project.
The minister said the government would install plug and play eco-friendly units, water recycling and treatment plants, and other facilities to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the garment sector.
He said the investment in Karachi Garments City would increase by installing modern and environment-friendly plants, which would also reduce the production cost of the industrialists.
He added that the increasing exports from Karachi Garments City would benefit the national economy and create employment opportunities for the local population. He appreciated the efforts of the Board of Directors and the management of Karachi Garments City for developing the project and assured them of his full support and cooperation.
