The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, held a meeting Thursday to discuss various issues related to the economy and the power sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ECC directed the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) to take effective measures to control inflation in collaboration with the provinces and ensure a smooth supply of essential commodities at reasonable prices.
The ECC also postponed the summary of the incentive package for investment under the $10 billion Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and decided to take legal opinion on the incentives to be given to the TAPI project under the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act 2022.
The ECC approved a proposal to settle the issue of capacity dues between the Coal Power Project and Port Qasim Power Company and also approved a summary of the Power Division regarding capacity liabilities of the coal power project.
The ECC also approved a supplementary grant for budget estimates for Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
