Federal Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb on Sunday predicted a further decrease in interest rates alongside a drop in inflation to single digits, reflecting improved economic conditions, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to journalists in Kamalia, Aurangzeb stated that economic indicators are showing positive trends. He emphasised the need for national unity, saying, "We should unite for the sake of the country. Pakistan is heading towards progress and prosperity."
In a related development, Senior Provincial Minister Mariyam Aurangzeb lauded the 31% increase in foreign remittances during the last 11 months of the current fiscal year.
She accused the perpetrators of the May 9 riots of being unable to accept the country's economic progress, which she claimed they had undermined during their four-year tenure. "These individuals do not deserve any facilitation," Mariyam added.
Mariyam highlighted that the public has rejected the opposition's civil disobedience call. "No Pakistani will be misled by liars and fraudsters," she asserted.
She praised overseas Pakistanis for their significant contributions to the nation's economy, noting their pivotal role in strengthening the financial landscape. She also congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for steering the economy back on track.
Mariyam further revealed that inflation had dropped from 38% to 4% within eight months, while the interest rate declined from 22% to 18%, describing these achievements as a "miracle."
