President and PM condole over lives lost in Jeju Air plane crash

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a plane crash at Muan International Airport in South Korea.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the President expressed his condolences to the government and people of South Korea, and expressed his sympathy to the families of those who died in the incident.

The prime minister stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account, “In this hour of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and with the people and the Government of the Republic of Korea.”

The crash involved Jeju Air Flight 2216, which went down at Muan International Airport on Sunday morning. According to foreign media, the tragedy claimed at least 85 lives.

The ill-fated Boeing 737-8AS had departed from Bangkok with 181 individuals onboard, comprising 175 passengers and six crew members. The aircraft crashed during its landing attempt.
