Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Mary Stiasny, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and Chief Executive of the University of London’s flexible and distance learning programmes, and discussed a range of issues pertaining to improvement education in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During their meeting in Lahore on Wednesday, CM Maryam praised Professor Mary Stiasny's efforts in providing quality education, teacher training, and employment opportunities across the world.
Professor Mary Stiasny congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on being elected the first woman Chief Minister of Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz informed Professor Mary about her agenda related to the promotion of education and training of teachers in Punjab province.
Moreover, the Chief Minister of Punjab emphasized the importance of ensuring quality education for every child, particularly girls, and focusing on skill development.
“Quality education of girls, making them skilled is my priority”, Maryam Nawaz.
“Wants to prepare educational curriculum based on IT and on new lines as well as to provide international scholarships to the students of Punjab”, said Chief Minister.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz Sharif also discussed the launch of online training courses for teachers with Professor Mary Stiasny.
During the conversation with Mary Stiasny, Maryam Nawaz said, “Your experience this year can prove to be very helpful in educating girls.”
In response, Mary Stiasny praised Maryam Nawaz Sharif's passion for education, especially girls' education, teacher training, standard curriculum, craftsmanship, and scholarships.
“As a woman, it was expected from you that you would make education an important part of your agenda”, said Mary Stiasny.
Both women shared a deep commitment to advancing education opportunities in Punjab.

Professor Mary Stiasny has special expertise in running the University of London's 100 online and other programs around the world while she is responsible for the education of more than 45 thousand students in 190 countries of the world.
Under the leadership of Professor Mary Stiasny, 1.4 million students are receiving education through the University of London's major online courses.
Professor Mary Stesni started her career as a secondary school teacher.
Professor Mary Stesni has also been the Commonwealth Scholarship Commissioner in the past.
