Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Kunwar Naveed Jamil on Friday filed a petition in the Sindh High Court for immediate hearing, seeking termination of corrupt government officers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petitioner prayed to the court to ask the provincial chief secretary as to what action was taken against corrupt government officers. “The SHC had ordered the sacking of officers who were wanted to NAB in different cases. But these officers are still serving,” MQM-P leader stated in his petition.
Jamil said that Justice Adnanul Karim had refused to hear the petition, while the chief secretary had sought two-month time from the court for the implementation of its order.
The SHC, in October 2017, had issued orders for the termination of services of as many as 477 corrupt officers from 13 different departments of the Sindh government.
According to details, these officials had voluntarily returned illegally earned money to the NAB and resumed their duties after entering into a plea bargain with the anti-corruption watchdog.
The court had ordered the termination of services of 297 officers from the Sindh Education Department alone.
The Local Government Department of Sindh, having the second-largest number of officials involved in corrupt practices, as 48 officers of the department were ordered to be removed from their jobs.
