England’s star leg-spinner Adil Rashid has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC T20I bowling rankings following his stellar performances in the ongoing T20I series against India.
Rashid’s economical spells in the first three matches have played a key role in keeping England alive in the five-match series.
Rashid was particularly impressive in the third T20I in Rajkot, where he registered figures of 1 for 15, helping England secure a 26-run victory. He had earlier delivered figures of 1 for 14 and 1 for 27 in the first two matches.
This marks Rashid’s return to the top spot, which he had held throughout 2023 before being displaced by Akeal Hosein in late 2024.
Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who produced a sensational five-wicket haul in the third T20I, surged 25 places to break into the top five at No. 5 in the rankings.
Meanwhile, England pacer Jofra Archer, who has taken five wickets in the series so far, jumped 13 spots to settle at No. 6.
Among other Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh held on to his ninth position, but Ravi Bishnoi slipped from fifth to tenth. Axar Patel, on the other hand, climbed five places to No. 11.
In the T20I batting rankings, Tilak Varma is closing in on the No. 1 spot, currently held by Travis Head.
The Indian batter moved up from third to second place, following scores of 18, 72, and 19 in the series**. Head, who is currently playing a Test series in Sri Lanka, leads by 23 points.
If Tilak delivers strong performances in the remaining two matches, he could become the youngest-ever player to top the T20I rankings.
