Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting in Lahore on Wednesday to decide measures for tackling the issue of illegal housing societies in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the meeting in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam directed to establish Punjab Special Planning Authority in principle.
A committee has been formed in this regard which will be responsible for zoning of commercial, residential and agriculture lands and district land used plans, which will be reviewed after a period of every four years.
Different special district planning committees will be formed on district level while relevant Deputy Commissioner will head of the committee.
Representatives from WAPDA, Sui gas, WASA and other departments will be included in the committee.
A violation tracking system will also be installed to curb the use of land illegally. District Digital Wall will identify use of land illegally.
Applications will be accepted through digital data via fast track system.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to settle and the pending applications on priority basis.
The participants of the meeting also reviewed different measures to separate coloring of residential and commercial areas.
Maryam Nawaz directed to provide friendly-environment and state-of-the-art walkable facilities in all housing socities.
She directed to forward her progress report on Lahore development plan on daily basis.
The Chief Minister was informed that through Lahore development plan, e-tendering will be introduced which will save government revenue worth millions of rupees.
During briefing the Chief Minister was apprised about progress report of 414 housing schemes and Lahore Development Plan Phase-I.
On this occasion Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that town planning consider vital role for safe and sound future.
He said that due to poor policies lot of illegal housing societies being established in the province.
