Pakistanis spent Rs15.62 billion on sipping tea during the month of December 2024 as the country imported 22.11 MT of tea in the same month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed that Pakistanis spent Rs87.32 billion on drinking tea during first six months of the current fiscal year 2024-25.
During the month of December, Pakistan spent $5.61 million on import of tea while 14.05 MT tea was imported during the month of November 2024 and in December the figures reached to 22.11 MT. Pakistan imported tea worth over Rs14.05 billion in November 2024.
Pakistan recorded 6.50 percent increase in import of tea on MoM basis while 4.57 percent decrease was recorded on YoY basis.
During the first six months of current fiscal year 2024-25 Pakistan imported 123.62 MT tea recording 6.67 decrease in imports during first half of current fiscal year.
In first half of current fiscal year $31.39 million were spent on import of tea. Pakistanis enjoyed tea worth Rs87.32 billion in first half of current fiscal year.
About 138.48 MT tea was imported during first six months of previous fiscal year while over Rs96 billion was spent on import of tea during six months of previous fiscal year.
