Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally requested permission to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.

According to the channel report, the application was submitted by PTI's chief organiser for Punjab, Aliya Hamza, at the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office in Lahore.

In the application, the PTI chief organiser stated in the application to the Deputy Commissioner Lahore office that PTI wishes to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan Park on February 8 and requested permission for the event.

This move comes just days after PTI's founding chairman, Imran Khan, appointed Aliya Hamza as the chief organiser for Punjab. The notification for her appointment was signed by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

Imran Khan has tasked Hamza with restructuring the party's organisational setup in Punjab and Lahore while also preparing for the scheduled protest on February 8.

Imran Khan has emphasised the importance of unity among opposition parties across Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while simultaneously focusing on mobilising political support in Punjab.

In a strong message to party leaders, Imran Khan stated that only those who are actively engaged with workers and visible on the ground will be considered for party tickets in upcoming elections.

PTI founding chairman Imran Khan also asserted, "I am closely monitoring everyone’s performance. Leaders who stand with the workers will secure party tickets."

The planned rally at Minar-e-Pakistan is seen as a significant effort by PTI to consolidate its support base and protest against what it claims was widespread rigging in the last general elections.
