The Foreign Office (FO) said on Thursday that Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi had briefed his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, during his recent visit to Pakistan, on the progress made on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) so far, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a weekly briefing to the media, FO spokesman Zahid Hafeez said that Qureshi had also updated the Saudi FM on the latest situation in Afghanistan and Kashmir. “Right now he is on a tour to Bahrain where both the sides have agreed to increase cooperation in trade and business sectors besides investing in each other countries,” he informed.
FO spokesman said human rights (HR) violations were abound in Kashmir as the Indian government was going ahead with its plan to turn Kashmiris into a minority in their own land.
The spokesman said that few days from now, on August 5, Kashmiris will be marking the completion of two years of the new restrictions imposed on them after the revocation of Article-370 of the Indian constitution which had granted a special status to their state.
He further said that there was no let-up in atrocities by Indian forces in the occupied territory despite the fact that the international media had time and again raised the issue of HR violations there.
