A large quantity of air-conditioners have been bought for the 'high-ups' of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) – the country’s largest industrial unit has been closed since June 2015, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.
Up to Rs4 million has been released for the 'high-ups' who are due to sit in one of the PSM buildings.
The stakeholders questioned as to why such a wastage of money has been being done when the country’s largest industrial unit has been hit by the worst financial crisis, resulting in its closures.
The PTI government has been showing doors to all of its staff sans giving golden handshake, but the top brass is still being provided with luxurious facilities.
In March, the PSM has terminated the services of a number of employees in seven categories – leaving up to personnel in the lurch.
Last year, 49 per cent of workers and 70pc of officers were reported to have been retrenched under which 4,544 people were rendered unemployed.
