The Indus Group, the assemblers and authorized sellers of Toyota have given out a new rate list for all the units being produced under their management.
The prices, which were already hiked, have been hiked even more by 20%. This means that the consumers of Toyota will be paying 20 percent more of the car price which is being sold to them at a rate higher than usual already.
The base model of Yaris, which was being sold at 3.04 million RS is now being sold for 3.8 million RS with a difference of almost 8 hundred thousand RS. Whereas the top of the line variant price has been hiked to 4.57 million RS from 3.66 million RS.
The base variant of Toyota Corolla with manual transmission is sitting at the new price of 4.9 million Rs, the old price being a straight million lesser than the new one. Whereas the top of the line variant of the Corolla sits at around 6.2 million Rs from 4.9.
The increase in the Hilux truck prices is the most increase ever recorded in the history of cars. The base variant of the truck has now been priced at 5.6 million Rs from 4.5 million Rs and the top model is tagged with 12 million Rs from 9.7 million Rs. The same situation has happened with the Fortuner, the base model sits at 12.5 million from 9.9 million and the top variant is now being sold for 15.8 million Rs whereas, earlier it was sold for 12.7 million Rs.
The chairman all Pakistan motors dealing association, H.M. Shahzad said that all the motor companies in Pakistan are only assemblers and none of them actually makes them locally. Toyota has raised the prices very much.
He also criticised Indus motors’ offer of refunding the booking payment up to 100% after 7 to 8 months.
The saddened and troubled motor dealers say that the company kept taking orders and booking cars for customers when they were not receiving the Completely Knocked Down Units (CKD) from the manufacturers and then raised the prices, the government has also not taken any action about it. The old cars in the market will also be sold on higher prices as people will not be able to buy new ones so the demand of old cars will also be increased.
