Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng is coming to Pakistan on a three-day visit today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
During the visit, the Chinese Vice Premier will attend the 10th anniversary celebrations of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Chinese dignitary will also call on the President and the Prime Minister.
Vice Premier He Lifeng has played a significant role in China’s international economic relations and implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, of which the CPEC is a flagship project.
As the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, he was instrumental in the planning and execution of multiple CPEC projects in Pakistan.
In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said the visit is part of regular high-level exchanges and dialogue between Pakistan and China.
She said it reflects the importance attached by Pakistan and China to further deepen their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership”; reaffirm support on issues of each other’s core interests; enhance economic and financial cooperation; advance high-quality development of CPEC; and explore new avenues for strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.
The Islamabad administration has announced the public holidays on July 31 and August 1 in the federal capital due to a high-profile visit of the Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier He Lifeng.
Foolproof security arrangements will be made upon the arrival of the delegation, the sources said, adding that the agreements on various projects will be signed.
