The IPPs agreements remained the epicenter of talks between Jamaat-e-Islami and the federal government delegation led by Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to inside information on negotiations, both sides held detailed discussions on inflated power bills and JI delegation led by Liaquat Baloch demanded that the government cut the agreements with IPPs which are minting billions of rupees from their power plants.
The government delegation told the JI delegation that it was not easy for the Government of Pakistan to end agreements with IPPs unilaterally and the government is bound to follow international accords.
During the discussion, the JI delegation reminded the government delegation that according to reports, many people of the incumbents have their IPPs and they were benefiting from the agreements.
On this Atta Tarar said that not a single PML-N leader holds any IPP and it was fake new circulating on social media.
Liaquat Baloch said that all IPPs have earned much more than their cost and these companies should be closed at all cost.
He further said that IPPs owners had squeezed the blood of the people, and it was time that the government should revisit the agreements. Atta Tarar told the JI negotiation team that their demands and suggestions will be placed before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Cabinet.
