The Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to bring the daughters of actress and model Sofia Mirza back to Pakistan from Dubai within three weeks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The apex court also directed the principal secretary to the prime minister to immediately get the summary approved for sending an FIA team to Dubai for the repatriation of the girls.
“The officials of the interior ministry will also have to go with the FIA team,” said Justice Maqbool Baqir who was heading the three-member SC bench that heard the case.
“Why the girls could not be brought back despite the passage of long time?” he questioned.
“The government cannot bring the girls back. The petitioner herself will have to go to Dubai and file a case,” answered the foreign ministry officials.
“But there are many cases in which the government has brought back people from abroad,” stated actress Sofia Mirza and added that she had been facing humiliation for 12 years.
“A summary has been sent to the prime minister to send a team to Dubai,” the FIA director general said.
“Send the team after getting the summary approved by the prime minister soon,” directed Justice Maqbool Baqir.
The case was three adjourned for three weeks.
It is worth mentioning here that actress and model Sofia Mirza has long been pursuing a case against her former husband Umar Farooq Zahoor whom she blamed for forcefully taking her daughters to Dubai.
