On the directions of the federal government, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Tuesday placed the name of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Jam Abdul Karim on Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“With his name on the PNIL, Jam Abdul Karim will be taken into custody on his return to Pakistan from abroad,” said sources privy to the development.
A letter had been written by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail for placing the name of Jam Abdul Karim on the PNIL.
It is worth mentioning here that PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim had been granted protective bail by the Sindh High Court (SHC) a few days ago in the Nazim Jokhio murder case.
The lawmaker had confirmed a ticket from Dubai to Islamabad to take part in the opposition’s no-confidence motion against the prime minister.
He had submitted the confirmed ticket of a foreign airline’s flight EK612 to the court for interim bail.
It must be kept in mind that PPP MNA Jam Abdul Karim, along with his brother MPA Jam Awais and others, had been booked in November last for allegedly torturing a man named Nazim Jokhio to death at the Malir farmhouse as he had tried to prevent their foreign guests from hunting houbara bustard.
Earlier, the Sindh High Court also disposed of a contempt plea against Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail. Both the governor and the interior minister had sought arrest of Jam Abdul Karim despite protective bail by the court.
