The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was barred from pursuing the cybercrime case against former finance minister Shaukat Tarin until he opens his mouth again, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

As per the official sources, the FIA was stopped from pursuing the case, for there has been no statement from Shaukat Tarin since the registration of the case against him. The case will be pursued if Tarin makes statements as before.

There has been no progress on the case since it was registered, and it has not been submitted to the court for legal proceedings. No step has been taken to get the accused declared proclaimed offender by the court.

The FIA’s declaring of the accused a proclaimed offender and contacting Interpol is a legal point. The FIA is yet to take these measures too.

It is to be noted here that a case had been registered against Shaukat Tarin over pressurising the finance ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab into sabotaging the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
