No water project against Sindh’s interest is acceptable: CM Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday declared that water has become a world issue and that no project which would be against the interest of Sindh would be allowed to realise, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The chief minister expressed these views while talking to senior journalists in Karachi. Murad Ali Shah said that our record showed decrease in water level of River Indus.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that 6 million acres of water will be available after completion of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. He said that we have no objection on construction of Cholistan Canal.

Murad Ali Shah said that Punjab government submitted a proposal in January while decision to develop Cholistan was taken during the tenure of interim government.

The six canals were mentioned in ECNEC meeting without naming Cholistan. The representative of Sindh objected it.

Murad Ali Shah vowed that Sindh government will oppose this project during hearing of case filed by IRSA in International Criminal Court (ICC).

Murad Ali Shah revealed that President Asif Ali Zardari was informed that “some expanded land will be developed”.

On this President Zardari replied “that if provinces have no objection then they should move ahead”.

Murad Ali Shah said that wrong minutes of meeting was prepared.

He said that IRSA issued wrong certificate about availability of water in the rivers.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that the President did not approve the project.

The approval was obtained by showing fake evidence.

 Murad Ali Shah went on to saying that entire work was started in July and August. 

He said that if anybody has any objection then he can take focus on old satellite images.

The Sindh Chief Minister said we asked them from where you will get funds. 

He said that that an amount of Rs218 billion was allocated for the project which now comes to Rs225 billion.

Murad Ali Shah said that when we will examine the details of the project the amount will be enhanced.

Murad Ali Shah revealed that according to a plan a new dam was constructed near Chiniot involving amount of rupees one trillion dollars.
