Nowshera MPA contracts COVID-19, Hangu doctor dies of virus

With an alarming rise in reported cases and deaths caused by the coronavirus during the past 24 hours, a ruling party MPA contracted the virus and another doctor died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Mian Jamshed-ud-Din is a provincial assembly member after being elected from a constituency PK-63 in Nowshera.

Meanwhile, the family sources said virus had also been found in his son and one of the guards, adding that Mian Jamshed used to meet with the infected people in his constituency.

Separately, senior politician Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who had been earlier infected by coronavirus, defeated the virus as he tested negative in the latest test.

Another senior ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain is currently in quarantined after the virus was found earlier this month.

On the other hand, a doctor admitted in Khyber Teaching Hospital died of COVID-19, raising the number of doctors dying of the virus in the province to three.

Dr Khanzada Shinwari, 45, was serving at Shifa Medical Centre in Hangu where he got the infection while performing his duties, said sources in Khyber Teaching Hospital.

According to the sources, he was shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital and admitted in isolation ward on May 20 due to his worsening condition.

Shinwari is the third doctor whose life was claimed the coronavirus. Previously, Dr Javed of Hayatabad Medical Complex and Dr Ashraf Gul of the main hospital in the Sadda town of Kurram district.
