Father of Pakistan’s nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said he would not write a book regarding the nuclear programme but maintained that it was a great satisfaction to build the atomic bomb in a very short time.
Talking to a private TV channel on the occasion of Youm-i-Takbir, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan said that he had gathered a team of 20 top-class scientists and engineers for the development of the atomic bomb. “No other team can even compete with that team even till the day of judgement,” he added.
Dr Khan further added that nowadays due to coronavirus, he spends the time at home with his wife and few cats.
In a country like Pakistan where a needle and a bicycle could not be made, building an atomic bomb in a short period of six to seven years was a big deal, he said.
Dr Khan said that Pakistan was capable of testing a nuclear devise way before 1998 as he had written a letter to General Ziaul Haq on December 10, 1984 that stated that Pakistan is ready for nuclear explosions.
Dr Khan also added that many important national secrets are buried in his chest so he would not write a book about them. “If he writes a book, there is a danger of those secrets being revealed.”
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan requested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to carry out experimental nuclear detonation in May 1998 in the face of Indian nuclear tests. The nuclear tests of 1998 conducted at Chaghi which sent a message across the whole world that Pakistan's defence was now invincible.
