A police official was killed when militants, mounted on a motorcycle, sprayed him with bullets in Sarband, a suburban area of Peshawar, on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The deceased was identified as ASI Haji Akbar Khan.

Soon after learning about the incident, SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar visited the crime scene.

SP Saddar Division Muhammad Zaman Khan and SP Investigation Shakeel Khan were also present on the occasion.

Briefing the SSP, DSP Pashtkhra Circle Sajjad Hussain said that an investigation had been launched into the incident after the collection of proofs from the crime scene.

He informed that two suspected militants had also been taken into custody.
