Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought an immediate report from Secretary Health while taking notice of the death of six children due to measles in Pattoki, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed ministers and officials of the health department to immediately reach Pattoki.
Maryam Nawaz also directed to provide the best treatment facilities to children suffering from measles.
The CM said that innocent lives were lost due to negligence and incompetence of the health department.
Determining the liability for negligence will be punishable, Maryam Nawaz said.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered to ensure vaccination of diseases including measles in hospitals.
Maryam Nawaz directed that cases of other epidemic diseases, including measles, should be monitored on a daily basis.
Negligence in the treatment of affected children will not be tolerated, said Maryam Nawaz.
Meanwhile, the health department has formed a three-member committee for the investigation after the death of six children due to measles in a village near Pattoki.
The committee includes Dr. Umar Amin, Dr. Asif Javed and Dr. Mohsin Watto. The committee will submit a report to the provincial health minister within 24 hours.
