There is an acute shortage of judges in over 15 special courts, including over 10 banking courts, which come under the federal government due to which the number of pending cases in these courts is now in the thousands, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
And despite the fact that the Lahore High Court (LHC) had sent names to the federal government for the appointment of sessions judges, the latter is still to give its approval.
Both lawyers and litigants, who are worried about delays in decisions of their cases, have now appealed to the government to immediately approve the appointment of judges in the banking courts.
Banking courts number 3,5 and 6 in Lahore are without adequate number of judges.
Similarly, a banking court in Rawalpindi, banking court-II in Faisalabad, a banking court in Sialkot, a banking court in Hafizabad, a banking court in Dera Ghazi Khan, a banking court in Vehari and a banking court-II in Bahawalpur also face a shortage of judges.
