Rawalpindi Commissioner has announced financial assistance of Rs one lakh each for the heirs of two polio workers who died during an accident while performing their duty, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Commissioner also announced an assistance package of Rs 50,000 each for the three injured polio workers.
Recognizing the dedication of polio workers who put their lives at risk to combat a national health issue, Commissioner Rawalpindi expressed heartfelt sympathy for the families of the two workers who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
The victims, identified as 45-year-old Yasmin Akhtar, who died on the spot, and 47-year-old Muhammad Maskin, who passed away at Benazir Bhutto Hospital's emergency ward, were serving as frontline workers in the fight against polio.
Furthermore, Saleha Aftab, Subhan, and Yasmeen, who were also involved in the accident, are currently undergoing treatment at Firdous Hospital.
According to CO Health Ejaz, Saleha Aftab's condition is reported to be critical, while the condition of the remaining two patients is stated to be out of danger.
Commissioner Rawalpindi has pledged to take the case to the relevant forum to secure further assistance for the bereaved families.
In addition to financial aid, he emphasized the importance of providing all other necessary assistance to the affected families.
The accident occurred when the polio workers collided with a bike while en route to the rural dispensary in Dhala.
