Entry of heavy vehicles banned in Lahore for three days

The Punjab government in order to fight off smog on Friday announced to impose complete ban on entry of heavy vehicles in Lahore for three days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore Amara Athar has said that DSPs will perform their duties on 12 exit and entry points of the city.

She said that no heavy vehicle including loader trolley will be allowed to enter Lahore. She said that damaged and those heavy vehicles leaking dangerous smoke sans fitness certificate will not be able to allowed to enter in Lahore.

Amara Athar said that passenger vehicles, and vehicles being used for transportation of medicines, essential food items and passenger buses will be exempted from this ban.

She said that the government is taking all necessary measures for 100 percent implementation of this ban.

She advised transporters to help government in their efforts to curb smog and to provide healthy environment to Lahore residents.

She said that collective efforts for complete eradication of pollution is need of the hour. Amara Athar said that Lahore Traffic Police is already started crackdown against vehicles leaking smoke.

Thousands of vehicles including heavy vehicles being detained or imposing fine on them who found involved in violation of smog restrictions.

Amara Athar said that 41 anti-smog squads were constituted for performing duties in anti-smog drive.
