PMDC decides to make dentistry 5-year degree programme

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to make dentistry a five-year degree programme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In this regard Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has issued a letter to all universities.

According to spokesperson, Higher Education Commission (HEC) has already made BDS a five-year degree programme. 

Spokesperson said Pakistanis had difficulties in getting education and jobs abroad with a 4-year degree. 

The fifth year will be for clerkship, followed by a one-year house job, spokesperson said.

The decision to make BDS a 5-year degree programme will come into effect from session 2024-25, spokesperson said.
