Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq emphasized that Palestinians are looking towards the Islamic world for support and solidarity in these critical hours when Israeli forces are hell-bent on their genocide, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing an urgent press conference in Islamabad on Saturday, he underlined the responsibility of the Islamic community to assist and amplify the voices of the affected innocent people of Gaza.
JI head lamented the closure of all media outlets in Gaza when Israel launched a ground attack to crush innocent people.
He continued that access to essential supplies, including medicines and food items, has also been blockaded for Palestinians, leaving the population in desperate need.
Sirajul Haq expressed deep concern over the situation, highlighting the dire humanitarian conditions that the people of Gaza were enduring.
Haq further informed that seven hospitals and twenty-four medical facilities have been destroyed in Gaza, while attacks on schools and civilian areas persist.
In this dire scenario, the United Nations has failed to hold a meeting for the past twenty days, he hinted.
He pointed out that the Jamaat-e-Islami’s local leadership had held discussions with the administration, aiming to secure approval for a public meeting scheduled for noon.
However, following the proposed meeting time, the administration arrested party workers and confiscated loudspeakers.
He criticized the United States for its perceived alignment with Israel, citing recent visits by the US Secretary of State and the President to Israel.
He highlighted America's condemnation of Gaza, instead of Israel, as a contentious stance.
He expressed his admiration for the Secretary General of the United Nations, who had acknowledged that Palestinians were unable to lead a free life.
According to him, the Secretary General's statement reflected the grim reality that the people of Gaza faced.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer emphasized that the march conducted the previous day was part of an ongoing effort to support the Palestinian cause. “Their primary demand was the cessation of the bombing in Gaza and the unobstructed passage of essential goods to the beleaguered population,” he added.
Sirajul Haq called for a peaceful protest, with active participation from women, children, and youth, underscoring the resilience of the people of Gaza despite the suffocating siege.
He urged the international community to take a stand against the ongoing crisis and to support the Palestinians in their time of need.
In a historical reference, Haq noted that support for Gaza was a moral imperative, equating the failure to stand with the suffering people to acts of betrayal from history.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief pledged to continue their advocacy for Gaza and expressed hope that the Islamabad administration would not resort to oppressive measures during their forthcoming march.
