Police arrested several Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) workers who had gathered at Serena Chowk in Islamabad to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The demonstration, organized by JI, saw the arrests of workers, including prominent figures.

JI Islamabad spokesperson Aamir Baloch was among those detained, with reports indicating that he was transferred to an undisclosed location. As tensions escalated, JI workers raised slogans condemning the actions of the police and administration.

Despite the arrests and attempts to quell the demonstration, JI leaders remained resolute. Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad, Nasrullah Randhawa, was also reportedly taken into custody, adding to the growing number of arrests that activists considered shameful.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s information secretary Qaiser Sharif criticized the Islamabad administration's tactics, asserting that the Gaza March, planned for the following day in front of the US Embassy, would proceed as scheduled.

JI leader Sirajul Haque is set to lead the march, expected to draw millions of participants, including men, women, and children.

Qaiser Sharif underscored the sentiments of 24 million Pakistanis, emphasizing their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

He warned of potential city-wide protests if any attempts were made to halt the Gaza March, accusing the government of obstructing the peaceful demonstration to appease the United States.

Sharif further condemned the US for its involvement in the conflict, stating that America plays a significant role in supporting the actions of Israel.

The demonstration by Jamaat-e-Islami not only highlights the global concern for the Palestinian cause but also showcases the commitment of Pakistanis in expressing their solidarity.
