The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday filed a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) against its September 30th, 2024 verdict in the case of the formation of election tribunals in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Arguing that it was the Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice’s power to decide which judge would head the election tribunal, the party, in the petition, prayed to the apex court to review its decision.

PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja filed the petition.

The LHC registrar had on April 4, 2024 notified six election tribunals.

A five-member of the Supreme Court (SC), headed by then chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa, had on September 30 while hearing the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) appeal against the LHC’s verdict on the Punjab election tribunals, nullified the high court’s decision by 5-0.

A week ago, the top court had reserved its ruling on an ECP’s appeal against a decision of the LHC.
