Pharma manufacturers have given the threat to increase the prices of medicines by 25 per cent, 24News HD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to the channel, Pharma Manufacturers Association leaders held a press conference in Karachi and claimed that 150 pharmaceutical companies have already closed.
Answering the different questions from the media, the Chairman of the Pharma association said if the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) does not negotiate with them, they will be forced to increase the price of medicines by 20 to 25 per cent.
On a query, he said if the government brings back the rate of the dollar at Rs155 in the country, they will not increase the prices of medicines.
During the press conference, the members of the pharma association disclosed that medicines are also smuggled from across the country to Iran and Afghanistan.
