French international rugby player Posolo Tuilagi suffered a suspected broken leg while playing for Perpignan in their Top 14 win over Clermont, his club announced Saturday.

The 20-year-old lock could undergo surgery at the end of the day or on Sunday, Perpignan general manager Bruno Rolland said at half-time of Saturday's 33-3 win.

Tuilagi remained on the ground for a long period of time after a seemingly routine tackle by Clermont's Barnabe Massa in the 17th minute.

The Perpignan player was then stretchered off the pitch, though he did raise a thumb in the direction of the crowd as he departed.

Tuilagi, born in Samoa but having lived in France since childhood, has represented Les Bleus five times so far in his fledgling career. He is the nephew of former England centre Manu Tuilagi.

However, he is now expected to miss France's upcoming autumn internationals against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina.
